Helado en una Bolsa (Ice Cream in a Bag)
How this uses STEM:
This activity is an example of an exothermic reaction! The salt on the ice makes everything colder- but how? The salt adds a thin layer on top of the ice, and saltwater has a lower freezing point!
Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup Half & Half
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 Tablespoon Vanilla
- Salt
- Ice
- Large sealable bag
- Small sealable bag
Instructions:
- Fill up your large bag with ice
- Pour salt over the ice
- In the small bag, add your half & half, vanilla and sugar
- Seal the small bag as tightly as possible
- Place the small bag into the large bag
- Roll and shake the bags for 15-20 minutes or until your ice cream is thick enough to use a spoon for
