How this uses STEM
- The color travels up the flower stems- this is a process called capillary action! It’s how flowers pull water to their petals to bloom, and since there is color in the water in this experiment, it pulls that up as well!

- Let your little one pick out the colors you’ll use- and say them in Spanish! Rojo, Amarillo, Verde, Azul and more!
Materials
- White flowers
- Jars/containers of water
- Food coloring
Instructions
- Fill up your jars with water
- Add drops of food coloring to the water
- Cut the stems of the flowers
- Place the flowers in the jars
- Watch the petals turn colors! This may take a while, but it’s worth it!
