Celebrating Fall through colors and shapes with Tierra Encantada

As we dive into the full swing of fall, there’s no better time to explore the beautiful colors and shapes that surround us. At Tierra Encantada, we’re learning all about colors and shapes—the building blocks of how little ones start to understand their world! These early concepts are more than just fun; they’re key to developing important skills like problem-solving, critical thinking, and language. By recognizing and naming colors and shapes, children lay the foundation for early math, creativity, and vocabulary growth.

In this unit, our classrooms will be filled with colorful adventures and shape-filled fun! Whether it’s spotting the colors of the fall leaves or identifying shapes in everyday objects, your child will be learning through play, hands-on activities, and creative exploration. Ready to see what’s in store for each age group during this exciting unit?

In our infant rooms, babies will explore colorful treasure baskets, grab onto soft shapes, and enjoy songs about the vibrant fall world around them. Toddlers will be on a color-sorting adventure, matching bright objects and building with fun shapes. They’ll also explore nature’s colors and shapes through playful art and outdoor activities. Over in preschool, kids will mix colors in hands-on science experiments, create cool shape projects, and even craft their own pumpkin patches and leaf collages to celebrate fall!

Our Pre-K classrooms will take their learning to the next level! We’ll explore primary colors through hands-on art, dive into secondary colors with fun science experiments, introduce three-dimensional shapes, and become shape detectives—hunting for 3D shapes in our classroom and making patterns with objects. The fall season brings even more excitement as we explore the changing colors of leaves, learn about pumpkins, and practice sequencing through the lifecycle of a pumpkin. We’ll even solve some addition and subtraction problems using leaves!

Check out the Spanish words we’ll be using in our classroom this month:

  1. Rojo (Red)
  2. Azul (Blue)
  3. Verde (Green)
  4. Amarillo (Yellow)
  5. El Círculo (Circle)
  6. El Cuadrado (Square)
  7. El Triángulo (Triangle)
  8. El Otoño (Fall)

Explore the Colors of Fall at Home!

As the air turns crisp and the leaves begin to fall, it’s the perfect time to celebrate the vibrant colors of autumn with some fun art projects at home. Gather your little ones and dive into creative activities that highlight all fall has to offer—think leaf collages, pumpkin painting, or even making colorful nature mobiles with fallen leaves. These projects are not only a wonderful way to spend quality time together but also a fantastic way to get involved with what your child is learning at school!
