August Adventures at Tierra Encantada
Welcome to People and Places in our Community Month at Tierra Encantada!
At Tierra Encantada, building a strong sense of community and understanding is at the heart of our mission. This month’s curriculum is designed to dive into the wonders of our community and the world around us. When kids explore their community, they get to be part of something bigger than themselves! They start to see the beauty in different cultures, understand how things work, and discover new passions. This exploration sparks their imagination, opens their eyes to endless possibilities, and makes learning an adventure.
This August, we’re embarking on a journey to explore the amazing people and places in our community. Our classrooms will embark on a journey to discover familiar places in their community. Whether it’s their home (casa), the grocery store, the playground, or key community landmarks like the fire station and doctor’s office, these locations will focus our circle time discussions. We’ll explore important questions: Who are the people we encounter there? When do we visit these places? How can we show respect and kindness to both the places and the people?
We hope this journey sparks excitement and curiosity in your kiddos. Let’s keep cheering them on as they explore to dream big and discover their passions. Here’s to more fun, exploration, and growing into whoever they want to be!

Experience Community Fun at Home
We’re excited for all our families to join the fun this Community Month at Tierra Encantada! We have a variety of activities that will bring the spirit of community into your home. Whether it’s taking neighborhood walks or creating crafts that replicate your favorite places in your community, these activities will not only enhance your child’s learning experience but also create wonderful family memories. Explore some ways to bring our curriculum to life in your home!
Activities in your community:
Exploring your community with your kiddos can be so much fun! Expand your child’s world by attending local sporting events, participating in library story times, creating a neighborhood garden, and visiting local parks to explore the wonderful community around them. Check out the farmers’ market for fresh snacks and connect with local vendors. Get your child involved in volunteer opportunities, or introduce them to your favorite places. There is nothing better than exploring as a whole family, so take the time this month to explore the community around you with your little ones.
